The Academy takes up an area of 45 hectares, of which 25 hectares are planned for Phase I projects. A test building and a R&D building, as well as their supporting facilities, totally 250,000 m2 in all, will be constructed there. By 2008, the academy will have built up independent capacities for bodywork development. A strategic alliance will be established with overseas resources for development of chassis and power train on the basis of platforms available now. By 2010, the Academy will have been capable of integrated management of vehicle and engine development. Before 2015, the Academy will be capable of independent development of self-owned chasses and engines, thus becoming an R & D center for developing self-owned brands that is comparable with the first class ones in the world.
